Ade Macalinao (she/they) is a all-genre spanning freelance producer based in Los Angeles, California, who works with award-winning directors & production companies to create emotionally compelling visuals within the narrative film, music video, commercial and direct-to-brand space.
I specialize in supervising and producing both nimble and expansive post & VFX pipelines - from editorial, motion graphics, design, 2D & 3D animation, to interactive tech on commercials, short form, and direct-to-brand content. My commercial work has ushered in awards from Cannes Lions, the CLIO Awards, D&AD, British Arrows, Advertising Creative Circle Awards, AICP Awards, & Eurobest to name a few.
My collaborative live action work has also been featured in the news outlets worldwide. Dan Deacon’s “Sat By A Tree” was chosen as a Vimeo Staff Pick and featured on media outlets such as NPR & Interview Mag. Virgil Abloh ft. Serpentwithfeet’s “Delicate Limbs” was highlighted on i-D, the NYT, Pitchfork & Complex. Kevin Morby’s “This Is A Photograph” was featured in NME, Rolling Stone & the New York Times. “Crushing” by Eartheater was featured on Fader Magazine and DJ Mag. “Care” by Hana Vu is an Official Selection at SXSW Film Festival 2025, a Vimeo Staff Pick and feature on Nowness Asia.
This year, I have produced two short films that are in post-production and I’m currently looking for funding to finish a nearly completed CG animated short film that merges both traditional 3D software and Quill, an immersive VR illustration and animation tool.
I also produced an action thriller short film, Dark In Berlin, that debuted at Cannes Next during the Marché du Film at the 77th Festival de Cannes. It has gone on to become official selections at film festivals including LA Shorts Fest, Ischia Global Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, among others.
Finally, my virtual production and visual effects producing work for feature film BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions (dir. by Kahlil Joseph) will be debuting at Sundance Festival 2025 domestically and the 2025 Berlinale internationally.
On my spare time, I’m either watching movies, riding a bike, being in nature, dancing my ass off, or scoping out stuff to do on the internet while thinking about when to do that in real life.
